I have been building electronic projects and equipment since I was at most 10 years old. I didn't write down the exact date. Ha! It didn't seem that important way back when.
I devoured all the electronics magazines I could lay my hands on or persuade a family adult to buy for me. I built a lot of the projects I could afford on a pre teen allowance. Allied Radio and lafayette Radio catalogs were my dream books. Yes, the projects did work when done.
I kind of envied the kids in the high school radio club (over 50 years ago) but I did not join at that time, too geeky it seemed but I was not fully aware I was kind of geeky too for just liking that stuff.
After a tour in the NAVY and heavy duty formal electronics training I accepted my radio geekness and obtained my first Amater Radio License at age 22. When CPU computer chips became available I knew digital electronics was the future. My first big computer machine was a Imsai 8080, all hand built.
I am still building electronic and computer projects. This Category will describe my work in this long time avocation with computer and amateur radio construction projects. Currently I am working with Parallax stamp and Propeller computers and with several versions of Rasberry Pi, micro board computers. I am also working toward building a Microwave radio station and equipment.
Lots going on but this tab will take awhile to build. My advantage is I also have a great workshop for making the custom hardware I need.
