Working on Eternity
I am taking a formal training class on how to carve wax. Then I will also learn how to do lost wax casting in Sterling silver.I have carved two pieces already and this is my third item. It will be a pendent for a silver chain. It is called the Celtic Eternity Knot.
As you can see there is no beginning or end. Overall height is about 1.5".
I could easily do this with my CNC mill but I am making these the old fashioned way by hand. I am using files and my new Foredom machine and also some knives and scrapers. Slow but interesting. I will add some dimension to this.
I'll eventually do an article on how this is done but not until I really know what I am doing. I am enjoying the heck out of this and am considering setting up a full lost wax casting system in the shop.
