Electronics in the Workshop
If you are a long time follower of my websites, you probably know I have created many projects that required a fair amount of electrical and electronic knowledge. For example I scratch built several of my CNC systems from scratch.
I experimented and built personal computers long before IBM and Apple ever thought to give it any thought.
I have also been a FCC licensed Amateur Radio operator since 1969, when I was 22 years old. I still love building radio equipment more than operating.
The electronics involve a huge variety of small components creating circuits for especially controlling electrical flow. That has been reduced significantly with LSI Large Scale Integrated circuits on "chips". There is still a lot design and assembly to make these chips understand and work with each other.
What may not be apparent it the large amount of plain old machine shop work that is required in building these systems.
That's why I think this category fits in perfectly well here in Ramblin' Dan's Workshop.
I just moved a long series of articles I wrote in 2011-2012 about building and testing radio data network to operate a model boat. It is two micro computers communicating to each other over a micro wave radio network. Amazing what is possible these days. Check it out HERE.
