A Cast System for Model Making.

Did you know that Lost Wax casting is a very good method of making metal parts for model building? Since you are reading this in a workshop blog, I am pretty sure you do. Well, that thought has always been a part of my intense interest in the process.

Yes, I will be making the pretty stuff, but I am also planning venturing into making parts for other uses. Can you imagine a brass valve body or a cast brass valve handle? There is a wealth of small brass items I can make that are not jewelry.

Bronze is also a consideration, very similar to brass. How about a real bronze cannon? Miniature of course.

I am thinking of detailed items that can't be easily manually or CNC machined, or perhaps need that cast look. Cast cannon barrels have the side trunnions that always require special fabrication on a lathe turned constriction.

Since as of yet I have no experience with casting theses things, I think it will be interesting to experiment.
