Kiln

Wasn't sure what topic to post this under. Casting & Molds will do for now. I may start a new topic and tab as I find more uses for a kiln.

I bought this kiln so I could do lost wax casting and use it to remove the wax and set the mold investment in its flask. The casting process is done with a 900 degree mold. It cures higher than that. But this kiln can be used for a lot more than that.

This is a Paragon E-12T which is manufactured very close to me (I'm in Frisco) over in Mesquite, Texas. In fact I ordered it from a store in Mississippi (best price) but picked it up direct from the factory. Follow the link if you want more information about the kiln.

The label on mine rates it to 2,250 degrees F. so it can really do some heating. The picture shows my first heating to 1000 degrees. Next time I will go for the whole enchilada, or close to it.

It runs on a dedicated 20A 120V circuit. This is as big as one can go on a 120V power. I see I could convert it to 240 with little effort if I ever needed to. I tried to order it for the higher voltage but it would be a special order at extra cost. Tsk.

I'll be posting more and better pictures once I put it to work.
