CNC Wax Carving

I cheated on carving wax by hand. These were done with my Taig micro-mill. They are wax and the both measure 1/8"x1"x2" and they are designed to be a key ring tag. The owl is the family crest for the name Kautz.

I first found a line drawing of the owl and designed the rest in Aspire software. The first one I did is on the right and I used a 0.005" tapered ball end mill for the owl. the one on the left was carved with a 0.003" 6 deg (inclusive) engraving V bit. with several hours of run time on each tag.

I could never do this detail by hand.
