The Little Things

I am gathering more tools. I just added a GRS bench pin to my collection. It's a bit of an extravagant spend for such a device but I am allowed to spoil myself. I wanted the GRS bracket to be in that location so I could use it for other accessories in the future. If I placed a cheap bench pin there, I would not have the other options so easy to add.

Actually the wood pin is rather cheap but the mounting system is pricey.

I have the option of several vices I could put on the mount as well as several soldering pad holders. I'll procure what I need when I need it. I am also giving consideration to the GRS MicroBlock when the time comes. One of the big problems I have with my PN in my hands is holding things. One thing engravers need is a very steady but fully adjustable holding system. I may take advantage of what fulfills their need.

Wood carvers often mount their work in an adjustable vice. I think it would be a wonderful idea to do the same for wax carving and any kind of small metal working and finishing. I have a Model 301 Pan-A-Vice and use it often. That will do me until I need something fancy.

I purchased some needle files and other small tools for working on my small projects. Some of those files can be very pricey. I am not going to start listing all the small hand tools I have but I thought I should mention there are a lot of little things that add up quickly when setting up a new way of working.

I am thankful I have the ability to get what I need and the time (sort of) to put it together. If I try hard enough I can get around my limitations and do what I enjoy (and keep it enjoyable.)
