b2ap3_thumbnail_DSC05289.jpgAt last I am going back to doing some wax carving. I have been off the metal casting game for a few months as my usual nice comfortable world has been swirling around me in utter chaos. I somehow stumbled through a wormhole and discovered I am now in Retired Land.

All my tools came with me so I have the necessary resources, work space and most important, the time to be creative in shaping wax for metal casting. Now I can make the best of the time resource which was the one thing of which I previously had little.

From now on it will be design and create to my heart’s content. I like working with wax and there are so many things that can be made and cast in metal. Silver is my favorite but I have also tried a little brass. I have a desire to do some small bell casting when I am in full operation. I did one bell cast that ended in a blow out, but I did learn from the experience.

I still have pressing details to manage as I transition to my new lifestyle. That could keep me out of the shop at times, but I am trying my best to make it a short transition.

I have a flask it the kiln as I write this. It’s a little Celtic cross to be cast in silver. I hope it helps me to stay on track. I’ll add a picture to this post once I have it finished.
