I just discovered a new topic to explore called "Invention".
I haven't looked at my hobbies and the things I make as inventions. But building a prototype of almost anything involves inventing. I think it is a very similar term to, and at least involves a lot of "engineering". I am reminded of the phrase, "Necessity is the mother of invention".
If you follow the Wikipedia links above, it may provide you a fresh look at inventions. I discovered invention has been my prime motivation since childhood. Figuring out how things work and exploring what could be done with that knowledge. Invention covers a very broad definition range. Just making something better by any means is an invention. So everything necessary, and created by the hand and mind of man can be classified as an invention.
Art is an invention. So is creating electronic devices such as Amateur Radio and computer programs. Inventions are everywhere. I also just like the sound of the word. It sounds like an honorable profession. To be transparent, I admit I have suddenly become obsessed with the term and its relevance to my innermost identity, how I see myself. I'd say it is finding out a part of who I really am.
I changed the slogan line of this website's header to include art and invention.
That became a necessity!
