I am making another pen body here. The mighty Taig micro-lathe is a good pen making lathe. I have removed the tool rest and have completed the sanding and one coat of finish. Plenty power at 1/4 HP and you can see I am running about mid speed on the belt drive.

 The turning is very easy to do. I think there is more work involved with boring the center hole and gluing in the brass tube. Then there is squaring the ends which is fairly fast on my 12 inch disk sander and absolutely accurate enough using care and a square fence.

I Lied, it's not a pen. Here is a picture of the finished mechanical pencil. So what do I know? :)
